SLEEPY Lacock is once again hosting the stars, as Hollywood heavyweights Hugo Weaving and Benicio Del Toro dropped in for filming of new monster movie The Wolf Man.

With a production crew of nearly 300 people the usually quiet National Trust village was once again turned into a hectic film set.

Benicio Del Toro, who starred in Traffic, Sin City and The Usual Suspects, and Hugo Weaving, star of The Matrix and Happy Feet, were filming at the Tithe Barn and an outbuilding next to the village post office.

Hundreds of people turned out to watch filming.

Matt Hamish, a member of the production team, said: "We have had a really good day of filming and actually got ahead of ourselves which never really happens.

"The public have been really good and done everything we asked them to do.

"Its a lovely place to shoot because everywhere you look there is something else that catches your eye and you want to use."

Mum-of-three Fiona Thaw, 34, had travelled from Devon to see the filming. "We were really excited when we read about the filming because my youngest, Josh, really likes werewolves and mythical creatures.

The Wolf Man is due for general release next year.

Up the road at Corsham, the BBC have also been filming an adaptation of Thomas Hardy's Tess of the D'Urbervilles, starring Anna Massey and new James Bond girl Gemma Arterton.

Lacock was also recently the backdrop for Hollywood film The Other Boleyn Girl, starring Scarlett Johansson, Stardust, and for filming parts of the Harry Potter film series.
