It's hammer time for MS Centre
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has been signed by JK Rowling

A SIGNED Harry Potter book and an autographed photograph of England's World Cup winning side of 1966, are going under the hammer for Swindon's new MS centre.

A new site, opposite Basepoint in Westlea, has been identified to meet the charity's growing needs in the town.

But to help pay for its new facility the organisation is planning a charity auction. Going under the hammer will be a special edition of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which is signed by the author JK Rowling.

A number of local companies have donated prizes, including a laptop, fitted car stereo, bed and breakfast in a local farmhouse and a week in an apartment in Albir, close to Benidorm, Costa Blanca, Spain.

Also up for grabs is a tour of the Sky News' studios and a photograph of the 1966 World Cup winning team, signed by hat-trick hero Geoff Hurst, the late Alan Ball and goalkeeping legend Gordon Banks.

Also available to bid on is a guided tour of the hallowed halls of Westminster, with North Wiltshire MP James Gray.

Jackie Wray, the manager of the centre, said: "Not only is it our 25th anniversary year but it is also the year we want to raise sufficient funds to move to new premises. We are located in a small industrial unit which is cramped, difficult to access and impractical.

"We are looking to generate funds to support the move to new premises."

The auction will be held at 7.30pm on Friday, April 25, at the Hilton Hotel, in West Swindon.

The evening will include a two-course meal, grand and silent auctions and entertainment from a seven-piece band.

It will cost £14 per person or £125 for a table of a minimum of 10 people.

Running costs of the centre are more than £40,000 per year. Half of this is raised through fundraising events.
