Commuters have been warned that multiple busy roads are set to close next month.
Various work will be carried out in Royal Wootton Bassett during May, including bridge inspection work and pothole repairs.
Although the closures are not expected to last long, long diversions will be put in place which will likely cause traffic to build.
Marlborough Road will be closed from its junction with Brooklands for just 300m in a south-easterly direction on May 31. This is so that work can be carried out to fix potholes in the area.
But the small closure will create an 11km diversion towards Bushton along New Road, the A3102, Breach Lane, Greenway and Withy Bed.
Whitehall Lane in Royal Wootton Bassett is also set to close from 9pm on May 28 until 5am the next day.
The road will close so that Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd can carry out a bridge inspection and other associated works.
This closure will create an 8km diversion, with motorists being asked to travel along the A3102 through Royal Wootton Bassett before joining the B4042 up to Callow Hill and then driving south to join again at Whitehall Lane.
Both of these road closures will put increased pressure on already busy roads and likely cause traffic delays around Royal Wootton Bassett.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Council has said: “It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending on weather conditions.
“Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.
“The order will have a maximum duration of 18 months.”
